2025-26 Wrestling Winter Registration
2025-26 Wrestling Registration Now Open!
Parents, do you want your child (K - 8th Grade) to learn skills and techniques that can help their coordination, strength, and confidence?
GRAA Wrestling will teach your children:
- Wrestling fundamentals, skills, and techniques
- Perseverance in competition
- Teamwork and sportsmanship
GRAA Wrestling is for K - 8th-grade BOYS AND GIRLS of all skill levels and body sizes and is designed for everyone to learn and improve. The GRAA Wrestling coaches focus their attention on the experienced as well as the inexperienced wrestler. The program is divided into three distinct groups: MAT RATS/Beginner, JV/Intermediate, & VARSITY/Advanced.
ALL PRACTICES TAKE PLACE IN THE GRHS CAFETERIA.
Advanced (Varsity): 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Wrestlers must be able to drill unsupervised without fooling around. Wrestlers will compete in matches and may have to compete (“wrestle-off”) for their desired weight class.
Practice during the Season will be on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights from 6:45-8:15pm.
Cost $225
Intermediate (JV): 3rd, 4th and 5th Graders (in their first year) OR kids with a minimum of one year of experience (Mat Rats included). Wrestlers will have the opportunity to compete in external tournaments.
Practice during the season will be held on Monday and Wednesday 6:45 to 8:15.
Cost $225
Beginner, aka "Mat Rats": K-2nd graders with no prior wrestling experience OR for wrestlers up to 3rd grade who are not sure if they want to wrestle officiated matches. Practice will include a review of basic wrestling techniques, some drilling, and a healthy dose of physical games. Mat Rats will also have the opportunity to enter external tournaments..
Practice will be held on Monday and Wednesday from 5:45 to 6:45.
Cost $160
NOTES:
Please let us know if you’d like to volunteer. We’re particularly looking for parents of K-2nd graders to help support our Mat Rats program. Wrestling experience is not required—what matters most is being comfortable leading and encouraging rambunctious little athletes!
The season runs through February.
Registration fees for all programs include a GR wrestling shirt. Varsity will receive singlets. JV will receive singlets on an as-needed basis.
**JV and Varsity practice at the same time and kids can move back and forth at coaches discretion so don’t worry so much if your child is in 5th grade and you are not sure if they should be JV or Varsity.
PRACTICE STARTS IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THANKSGIVING WEEKEND FOR ALL GROUPS
