Glen Ridge Travel Baseball Development/Program Evaluation Day on 11/19
Think your child might be interested in travel baseball in 2024? We’re holding a fall development session to better assess the viability of fielding a Glen Ridge travel team or teams sometime next year.
Who: Any child born between May 2013 and April 2016 (travel baseball ages 8U-10U)
When: Sunday, Nov. 19, 12pm to 1:30pm. We may extend the session time based on the volume of registrations. We may also add one additional date if the registration responses indicate that a significant number of kids are interested in attending but unable to make this date.
Where: Sherman Field
What: Hitting, pitching, and fielding practice with volunteer coaches
How: Please register here to attend. If your child is interested but can’t attend on this date, we encourage you to register and indicate that on the form.
Questions and answers:
Is this a tryout?
No, a tryout would be held at a later date if it is determined that a viable travel team can be created in a particular age group(s). This event would in no way factor into who makes any potential travel team.
What’s the purpose?
- Get those kids who are passionate about baseball some offseason activity before winter.
- Allow the GRAA baseball board to better assess both the demand and competitive viability of a Glen Ridge travel team or teams, so it can make a better-informed decision about 2024.
Would travel compete with Little League?
No. Little League plays its games on Saturday and a spring travel team would generally play its games on Sundays.
We ask that if your child is interested in Glen Ridge travel baseball, you make every effort to register and attend this November 19 session. Many area club baseball teams are now asking for Spring commitments from kids. If our town is able to field a viable team(s) for Spring we need to make that determination now.
